We are empowering young lives and changing the future through STEM and Robotics

What is FRC Robotics?

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a

robotics community that prepares young people for the future through

a suite of inclusive, team-based robotics programs for ages 4-18 (PreK-12)

that can be facilitated in school or in structured afterschool programs.

Boosted by a global support system of volunteers, educators, and

ponsors that include over 200 of the  Fortune 500 companies, teams

operate under a signature set of FIRST Core Values  to conduct research,

fundraise, design, build, and showcase their achievements

during annual challenges.

About Team 8757 Geodebots

Nehemiah Community Empowerment Center was granted funding from FIRST, NASA & the Argosy Foundation which allowed us to establish a legacy FRC team in the local Greensboro community.  We have partnered with The Forge for designing and welding capabilities.

With our scholarship, we created our first robotics team that consisted of three 8th graders and three high schoolers. Over the course of our 1st season,

we had a blast, getting to meet each

other for the first time, developing

teamwork and leadership skills while

learning how to build a robot from

scratch. - It was AWESOME!

Our teens are pioneers in our community

by creating career awareness and

diversity in these lucrative fields.  At Nehemiah, we are pulling back the

layers and finding that hidden

gem (talent) that is already inside of us.

Creating Diversity in the STEM & Robotics Fields

The job search website Zippia estimates only 4.4% of people in the field of robotics are Black or African American and only 8.5% are women. The Nehemiah Community Empowerment Center is working to change that through their robotics team — the “GeodeBots.”
